How we help children in need
It all began in 2001 with the founding of a Christian-run children’s home in the Indian city of Rajahmundry in south-east India. The entire development is described in more detail in the “About us” section.
Our aim is to support children, young people and adolescents until they have successfully completed their schooling or vocational training. This gives them the best chance of being able to take good care of themselves and their families and, ideally, also help others.
Our plant now consists of various branches:
Promotion in the home towns
It doesn’t always have to be a children’s home: We provide the necessary basic care and educational support in the homes of children and young people so that they can remain in their familiar family environment. Regular visits by Kinderarche employees and local contact persons ensure continuous and needs-based care. We place particular emphasis on supporting girls.
The education center in Rajavaram
Rajavaram is a somewhat remote place with inadequate infrastructure, approx. 23 km from Rajahmundry.
Girls and boys from the surrounding area are offered an afternoon program there every school day. In a quiet atmosphere, the children can consolidate their learning material and complete their homework under the guidance of a qualified teacher, which would not be possible in the noisy and cramped conditions at home.
To prevent or remedy malnutrition, the children also receive a nutritious snack every day.
The offer is a great blessing for families from poor backgrounds in the area.
The children's home in Kesavaram
Kesavaram is located approx. 20 km from Rajahmundry in rural surroundings.
The building, which was occupied in 2015, offers the children plenty of space to live, learn and play in its large grounds.
The children attend local schools and also receive all-round care and support from qualified staff.
Due to official regulations, boys up to the 10th grade can be admitted. The campus also serves as a meeting place for special events with the decentrally supported children and young people.
Organization and financing
The work is led locally by the Indian couple Paul and Annie Babu, with whom we have been friends for many years. Regular visits take place on site.
Funding is provided by sponsorships and donations from German-speaking countries via the association “Die indische Kinderarche e.V.”
The work of the association is carried out entirely on a voluntary basis, which means that all donations go directly to the children.
As a charitable organization, we are also entitled to issue tax-deductible donation receipts.
